What is the correct syntax for a table on Reddit?

Reddit uses standard GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM) tables. The first row contains header titles separated by pipes (|), the second row contains separator hyphens (e.g., |---|---|), and subsequent rows contain your data cells.

How do I align text in Reddit markdown table columns?

In the separator row, place colons (:) to control alignment: ':---' for left alignment, ':---:' for center alignment, and '---:' for right alignment.

Can I paste directly from Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. When you copy cells from Excel or Google Sheets, your clipboard contains tab-separated values (TSV). NexTools automatically detects TSV and CSV formats and converts them into Reddit tables.

Mastering Reddit Markdown Tables for Subreddit Posts

Sharing comparison charts, data dumps, benchmarking metrics, or financial breakdowns on subreddits like r/programming, r/SEO, r/personalfinance, or r/buildapc is dramatically more engaging when formatted as a responsive table. A poorly aligned table results in unreadable raw text strings that get downvoted.

Frequently Asked Questions

When creating a post on Reddit desktop, click "Switch to Markdown" in the post editor before pasting the generated table code. On mobile apps, the Reddit composer natively accepts Markdown.

If your text contains pipe characters (|), they must be escaped as \| so Reddit's parser doesn't mistake them for column dividers. NexTools handles delimiter parsing automatically.
