Why Convert YouTube Shorts to Standard Video URLs?
The native YouTube Shorts interface is designed for infinite vertical scrolling on mobile phones. On desktop computers and laptops, this format is frustrating: you cannot fast-forward or rewind (no timeline seek bar), you cannot adjust playback speed (0.5x, 1.5x, 2x), and sharing a /shorts/ link forces recipients into an annoying full-screen loop player.
The NexTools YouTube Shorts to Normal Video URL Converter seamlessly extracts the unique 11-character video ID and transforms it into the standard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ID format. This unlocks regular player controls, allows timestamp sharing, and lets you inspect comments and descriptions easily.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How does the YouTube Shorts URL conversion work?
Every YouTube Short is actually a standard YouTube video under the hood. By replacing /shorts/ in the URL with /watch?v=, YouTube automatically serves the standard desktop web player instead of the vertical reels interface.
Does this converter work on private or unlisted Shorts?
Yes! As long as you have the unlisted Shorts link, converting it to a regular watch URL works identically.
Can I download the thumbnail of a YouTube Short?
Yes. Our converter includes direct one-click links to download the 1080p MaxRes and High Quality cover thumbnails generated for that Short.
