Why Do We Accidentally Write Duplicate Words?
Cognitive psychology calls it typoglycemia or saccadic suppression: when your brain reads sentences, it processes whole conceptual phrases rather than individual words.
When a word is accidentally typed twice (especially across line breaks, such as "in the
the morning"), the human eye skips over the repetition almost 80% of the time. Standard spellcheckers only highlight misspelled words and miss consecutive duplicates, causing embarrassing errors in published books, job resumes, legal contracts, and academic dissertations.
