Frequently Asked Questions & Developer Reference (AEO Hub)

Google Play Reporting Spec 2026

? Why do download counts take a short time to appear?

Google Play compiles bulk download CSV files once a day at 00:00 UTC. When you grant bulk reports permissions to a service account in Google Play Console, Google takes 15–30 minutes to propagate bucket ACLs across Google Cloud Storage.

? Is uploading my Service Account JSON safe?

Yes. Each visitor is assigned an isolated session workspace. Credentials are used solely to query Google APIs for your own active dashboard and are excluded from public databases.

? Where do I find my Google Play Cloud Storage Bucket ID?

In Google Play Console, open Download reports > Statistics. Under the Cloud Storage URI section, you will see your unique bucket ID starting with pubsite_prod_rev_ (e.g., pubsite_prod_rev_XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX).

? What are the official Google Play Android Vitals thresholds?

Google enforces two primary "bad behavior" thresholds: user-perceived crash rate of 1.09% and user-perceived ANR (Application Not Responding) rate of 0.47%. Keeping your rates below these numbers prevents search demotion on the Play Store.

? Can I track multiple Android apps?

Yes! You can add unlimited apps under your Google Play account by clicking the Add App button in the top navigation bar. You can switch between apps anytime via the top dropdown.

? What happens if I get a 403 Forbidden error?

A 403 error means the service account lacks permission. In Google Cloud Console > IAM, ensure the service account has the Storage Object Viewer role, and in Google Play Console > Users & permissions, check "View app information and download bulk reports".

How to Connect Google Play Store Official Guide

Step-by-step setup for Service Account, Cloud Storage Bucket & Permissions

Why are Installs / Downloads showing 0 or HTTP 403?

Google Play exports daily CSV download files directly into your Google Cloud Storage bucket. If downloads show 0, it means your Service Account requires bulk reports permission in Google Play Console.

Quick 1-Minute Fix in Google Play Console:

Go to Play Console > Users & permissions.
Click on your Service Account email address.
Switch to the Account permissions tab (not App permissions).
Check "View app information and download bulk reports (read-only)".
Click Save changes. (Google Cloud Storage automatically links bucket access within 15–30 minutes).

4 Simple Steps to Connect:

Create Service Account in Google Cloud

Open Cloud Console

Go to IAM & Admin > Service Accounts, click Create Service Account, assign the role Storage Object Viewer, go to Keys > Add Key > Create new key > JSON, and download the .json file.

Invite Service Account to Google Play Console

Open Play Console

In Users & permissions, click Invite new user, paste the Service Account email. Under the Account permissions tab, tick "View app information and download bulk reports (read-only)" and click Save.

Enable Google APIs (1-Click)

Ensure both Google Cloud APIs are activated:

1. Android Developer API → 2. Developer Reporting API →

Find Cloud Storage Bucket ID & Connect

In Play Console > Download reports > Cloud Storage, copy the Bucket ID (e.g. pubsite_prod_rev_XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX). Upload your JSON key file to start tracking live analytics.

Disconnect Google Play Key?

Are you sure you want to disconnect your Google Cloud Service Account key from this browser session?

Uploaded service account key is immediately wiped.

Your browser session will safely return to Demo mode.
